Introduction:
The following poem is an attempt to bring to light the plight of the infamous “Moderate Muslims” of India. This is a term created by the media to patronize a section of Muslim population. Ironically, the same sets of people are often seen by contempt by the other side. Since being based on a sensitive and controversial issue, the piece can be best understood if read with an open mind. Shikayat
Na matlab mujhe tumhaare maslo se
Bas Khuda ki ibaadat jaanta hu mai
Na matlab mujhe tumhari nafrat se
Is mitti se hi muhabbat karta hu mai
Jo karu mai baat imaan ki
Apne hi desh ka gaddar banta hu mai
Jo karu mai pyaar is watan se
Apno me hi kuffar banta hu mai
Jab dekhu mai insaan se insaan ko ladte
Khud ke hi aks se sharmata hu mai
Aur duniya ko fatah karne ka khwaab liye
Is mulk se shikayat karta hu mai,
Jab na dekhi maine bantwaare ki aag
Par aaj bhi kyu uski tapan sehta hu mai
Aur na dekhe maine Ayodhya ke Ram
Fir bhi kyu tumhara Ravan banta hu mai

Really wonderful,
poem is simple yet very deep.
Has a beautiful melody.
Loved it…
I really feel that poetry can/should address the problems of an era. It would be then considered as capable of absolving itself from the “sin” of being branded as “removed from reality”. Lovely poem that addresses the sensitive issues of human beings separated from human beings on the basis of religion, caste and cultures. Keep it up Adnan! Write more often.
wow adnan a nice attempt really appreciate your genuineness and sincerity in addressing the topic!! thumbs up!
