Student Affairs at IIT Gandhinagar (IITGN) constitutes one of the most important pillars of student life on campus. IITGN treats students as responsible adults who are capable of taking decisions on their own. Students are provided a great deal of ownership in matters related to student activities, development and welfare, and participate actively in decision-making at various levels. The Student Affairs team provides a range of services to help students realize their full potential, focus on overall development, learn to be responsible and well-rounded adults, and to not be disadvantaged by financial constraints. We cater to all non-academic needs of students including, accommodation, personal / professional growth, medical, counseling, sports, cultural events, and financial assistance.

Sports facilities

Sports play a pivotal role in shaping one’s personality and maintaining good health. IITGN has always been supportive of sports and fitness as it helps in maintaining a healthy mind and body. We believe that the students must be allowed to choose games and sports of their liking and capability and must be given ample opportunities to excel in it. We have a state-of-the-art sports facility that matches international standards and gives a truly global experience to all our students. Students can practice and attain professionalism in various sports such as Aquatics, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Gymnasium, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Lawn Tennis etc. For more information, click here

We have a well-established Medical Centre with an ambulance facility (24 x 7) to cater to the medical needs of all members of the IITGN community. Students are entitled for free consultation and medicines prescribed by the Doctors.

Scholarships/Financial Aid

IITGN believes that financial constraints should not become obstacles in the academic pursuit of any student. The Institute’s extremely liberal financial aid and scholarship programs ensure that no student feels disadvantaged due to his/her financial situation. The Institute has thus constituted numerous scholarships and financial assistance mechanisms such as the Donor Scholarships, Excellence Scholarships, TML- FAP (Tata Motors Ltd. Financial Aid Programme), tuition fee waiver etc. In addition, the institute also provides financial support in form of financial grants, interest-free short/long term loans to deserving students to cover expenses associated with tuition fee, hostel and mess fees, procurement of books, pocket expenses, medical emergencies (beyond what is covered by insurance), social and cultural activities, internships and educational tours, etc. For the detailed information, click here

Student Well-Being

The Student Well-Being Initiative of IIT Gandhinagar is driven by a dedicated team of faculty members who offer assistance to students with a broad range of concerns from academic to personal, emotional and financial well-being. The initiative works with students directly and helps connect them with the right group of advisors to resolve various problems. This is not just a forum for solving problems, but also welcomes students to discuss challenging projects and causes revolving around overall well-being. Counselling Services

The Counselling services team at IITGN oversees the emotional and psycho-social well-being of the entire campus community including students, staff and faculty. Counselling services at IITGN offers the following services to the Students

• Comprehensive viva-voce for undergraduate students
• Career counselling in conjunction with CDS
• Services are available all year round
• Group counselling and therapy
• Gender sensitivity training
• Activities and workshops pertinent to emotional and social well-being
• Psychometric and personality testing
• Guiding students to suitable resources on campus pertinent to academics, extra-curricular and social life

Explorer Fellowship

Career Development Services

The Career Development Services (CDS) office at IIT Gandhinagar is committed to empowering students to discover their true potential and help them to pursue their dreams in all possible immediate career verticals including Entrepreneurship, Placement, Higher Study and Competitive Examinations. Students can avail CDS resources that help them to explore and plan their career effectively. CDS also conducts various sessions that help students in career counselling, resume preparation, screening tests, group discussions, interview preparation, personality development, among others. We are proud of several past and ongoing associations in the form of internships, industry visits and placements with participating organizations both from India and abroad. Dean's Message

Dear Students, The student affairs team welcomes you to be part of IIT Gandhinagar's unique journey to excellence. We are liberal in our outlook, informal in our interactions and uncompromising on our values. We are not averse to failures but we refuse to be let down by them. We support you to pursue your dreams and aspirations. We encourage you to have convictions and opinions; take decisions and be responsible for it. ... We promote new initiatives and experiments in curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Some of the new initiatives and important aspects of student life at IIT Gandhinagar are the following. We treat students as responsible adults who are capable of taking decisions on their own. Students of IIT Gandhinagar are bound by the “Honor Code”, which has been conceived and enacted by the students themselves. All students are formally invited for discussions every semester with a panel of faculty and the Institute's counselor to understand and address their concerns. Students are participants in all decisions pertaining to student affairs. The Senate Student Affairs Committee, which is responsible for decisions about student matters, consists of four student members. OCEO program allows the students to be self-reliant and meet their own expenses. The Institute offers awards not only for curricular and extracurricular achievements but also for Exemplary Human Qualities. More than 35% of students graduate with international experience of some sort. Forums and events are created to promote informal faculty-student interaction. Institute has adequate provisions for financial aid to needy students to meet their expenses for curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. We are committed to your wellbeing and ensure that you have opportunities for a holistic development.
